About Mackenzie
The Past, Present, & Future
Ever since I was a child I have had a fascination for things and how they worked such as; toys, gadgets, etc. that had versatility; the ability to do or serve more than one purpose/function. I believe this is where I began to stem my interest in so many different things, with a goal to become versatile myself by trade, skills, and experiences. Many of the things I have done tend to layer over one another like an union or rather weave into each other creating a mural of myself that will never be fully complete. For instance, in karate and soccer I learned how to read and anticipate an opponent’s strategies as well as how to improve my own. After playing soccer for some time, I began to want to find ways to become stronger at the sport, however, there were no products on the market that solved my problem. Thus, leading me to create my own solution, due to my inner curiosity of how things work. This ultimately led to my first business idea, a product that helps soccer players increase their athletic capabilities with a disclosed application, that would later lead me towards my Undergraduate major decision.
While attending High point University I gained more knowledge to understand this new-found perspective, how to harness its capabilities of looking at how things work, as well as how to improve upon them to make it into a reality. In the following summer I worked as a raft guide where I noticed yet another major problem within the process and created another business, Ohana Lock, LLC a novel locking device that allows the user to attach an array of shaft-able objects to a multitude of surfaces aiding in transportation, usage, and storage.
From this point on, I continue to look at everything I become fully immersed in with an innovative and creative perspective on how to continuously improve these processes with sustainability and impact in mind. The time spent helping other members with their ideas in Entrepreneurship Club as well as participating in an internship with a Startup Incubator has led me to want to help others with their ventures as well as my own. I have a strong passion for looking at the ins and outs of businesses, business ideas, as well as new ventures regarding, how to improve them and make them better for years to come.
